Do Dreams Expire?
They, the proverbial knowers of all things, say that everything has an expiration date. Whether it’s canned, boxed, or bagged, all food goes bad. Even makeup has a time stamp for when it should be thrown out. But what about dreams? Do they expire if they are deferred or dropped?
Take a deep breath, because here comes my big, bold answer to this tough question. Dreams don’t expire. BUT, a dream’s ability to actually turn into reality definitely has an expiration date. Think about it. Maybe as a child you dreamed of having a certain job or having your dream house. You’ve grown up with that thing in the back of your mind but it’s nowhere in sight. Maybe you didn’t take steps to make it happen. Maybe you’ve hit roadblocks along the way. Maybe you’ve made some bad decisions. Or maybe you’ve done a lot and it just hasn’t happened yet! You could settle. Even consider that dream dead and gone. Or you could revisit it, remix it if necessary, and bring it – back to life, back to reality.
The good news is this. An expired dream doesn’t have to be your life’s story. You determine whether your dreams live or die. So dream big. Plan well. And execute with excellence. It’s time to erase that expiration date and breathe life into your dreams!
“We live in a disposable, ‘cast-off and throw-away’ society that has largely lost any real sense of permanence. Ours is a world of expiration dates, limited shelf life, and planned obsolescence. Nothing is absolute.”
